A Vacuum Leak Test is a method where air is removed (vacuum created) from a test part or chamber to check for leakage.
Best For
• Detecting micro / fine leaks
• Sealed components
• Products where water is not allowed
• Clean industries, like - electronics, medical, packaging etc.
• Parts with complex geometry where air test is difficult
Advantages
• High Sensitivity → Detects very small leaks
• Clean Testing → No water, no contamination
• No Drying Required → Saves time post-testing
• Good for Quality Assurance → Reliable & repeatable results
• Inward Leak Detection → Useful where external contamination matters
Limitations
• Requires perfect sealing / fixturing
• Higher initial cost (vacuum pump + sealing system)
• Not ideal for large volume parts (longer cycle time)
• Flexible parts may deform under vacuum
• Slightly slower than air leak testing in production
